Hunger Games

I love and hate seeing the previews for the Hunger Games. I want to see the movie so bad and the previews only make me want to see it more. I like watching them but it is like teasing me. The Hunger Games is the book I am reading for the third quarter outside reading. I will give a brief overview of the story; trying not to spoil the book for anyone show hasn't read it yet. SPOILER ALERT. The Hunger Games is a story about this 16-year-old girl named Katniss who has had a terrible life with her father dying and then having to support her family by hunting illegally. Then her little sister's name gets called at the reaping for the hunger games, which is the government way of controlling the people. To describe what these games are, there are 12 districts and they each have to have a boy and girl tribute that will go to an arena and fight to the death, 24 in 1 out. Katniss is from district 12; the poorest out of all of them and only have one living victor, a drunk named Haymitch, so district 12 almost never wins. Katniss then volunteers to take her sister's place, and the boy tribute is a baker's son named Peeta who Katniss barely knows. Soon they are fighting in the games in a no rules free for all fight to the death, which is all I am going to say since I don't want to ruin it. This book is one of the best books I have read and keeps you guessing what will happen next with unexpected results that have you reading for hours. If you have not read this book, go out and get it and start reading.

Track

First day of track just started today and every single season of running I question myself thinking, “Why on earth do I go through this hell?” Every time I ask myself I don’t have an answer, and probably never will. The pain that goes along with it, the dedication to it, and the time lost to the sport that I somehow love. The idea of going out and running 6 miles is crazy and most people would say I am not right in the head, and maybe I’m not. For me running is an escape from school, from annoying people, from everything where I can just be with my closest friends and run. Maybe that is why I run, but still the idea of running for miles on end seems like a torture for most people and still for me. I always feel so good after I finish a hard workout or race, along with the feeling that I am going to die. The appeal of running to me is a strange one, I hate the sport but I can never stop it. It is truly a love hate relationship.

Project X

Project X is a movie about three teenagers who have the best party in history. The three main characters are very unpopular in their school and want to change that, and they believe that this is going to be the best way to do it. When Thomas's, one of the main characters, parents leave for a weekend they take full advantage of the free house. The party is planned to be a get together of around 50, but the party soon gets out of hand, and the numbers soars to over 1000. The R rating is fitting since there is a lot of swearing, alcohol, and nudity. It is a movie that is very funny to watch, and at the end makes you want to go throw a party like that yourself. Although the plot of the movie maybe is not the best, since most of the movie is just party scenes, it is still a very funny movie with interesting parts to it as well. Overall it was a very enjoyable movie to watch, if someone has time to go see it they definitely should
